I removed ~55 amp hours from the Crown flooded group 31 last night and was immediately disappointed once the 30A/h from full line was crossed.
Voltage had dropped to 11.8v minimum when the fridge was cycling on when I ended the test
I Then removed all loads from the battery and waited an hour, voltage rebounded to a whopping 12.02v
Today I weighed it. 57.3 pounds.
I called the seller shortly after and explain my findings.
"Sir a marine battery is a deep cycle battery."
I disagree. I detail my capacity test. I explain lack of weight how it is impossible for 57 LBs of lead to have a 130 A/h capacity at the 20 hr rate.
Hold on Sir.
The manager comes on the line.
I repeat myself.
"Sir, a marine battery is a deep cycle battery."
Quasi Rant Begins. Detail my capacity test again, state how Crown is no longer claiming to even make a deep cycle G31, only a marine battery at 105 AH, which is what my capacity test indicated, which is what the battery weight indicates.
Sir a Marine battery is a deep cycle battery.
BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! angry now but talking slowly, evenly. Red laser beams searing emitted from my eyes, searing anything in their path.
Frightened neighbors run inside their homes.
He offers to exchange it.
I am returning it tomorrow. They carry un rebranded US battery deep cycle but surprise! It is more money
Thanks Mena.
My previous set of 27's I just turned in were these rebranded Crowns too. I never busted out the bathroom scale on them and was never impressed with their voltage under load. However the previous set of Crown 27's I had, without the 40 $ sticker on them, and I did bust out the scale on these, indicated they were 62 lbs each and when these were new their overnight voltage was more impressive. I bet they'd have gone 3 years or more if I had watered them in time.
I hate modern business practices. Bait and switch and maximum profit is paramount.
Gotto go calm myself down now.
