MEXICOWANDERER

Thanks!
Unless I use a proxy server, walmart switches me to Walmart Mexico. A 30 gallon electric heater down here costs almost $500
People who travel south of Tijuana need recognized ID showing proof of residency so being from Michoacan the Covid checkpoints would refuse me and me to go home.
Half the voltage, half the wattage and at least double the time to heat from ambient. Ambient in the winter can be 40F. Six hours to heat 30 gallons to 120F, which is 80F, Delta T?
These older houses are wired with 12 gauge wire with a single 30A fuse or breaker at the service drop. Wires in houses are encased in concrete.
The Mexicans are unclear on the concept as their LPG heaters are kept outside to ventilate. A 40F environment will empty a 100 lb cylinder in under a month even kept on the lowest setting. In the 70-80F summer the same gas will go 3 months or more. The stupid vent tube running up the middle of the heater is what causes all the loss.
Oh this gets better...
The water here is so bad it kills a rose bush in a week. Purified water for the plants and an instant demand water heater killer. This means bi-weekly blowdowns like firing a boiler.
Home Depot sells 100 gallon set LPG tanks for 500 dollars which trucks can refill or I can hassle the 100 pound cylinders.
An electric heater for showers sounds tempting but the devil is in the details. Like money. And piping that runs through 30 feet of concrete before it gets to the shower is another slow to warm quick to chill is yet another LPG bummer.
Alternatives would be appreciated. I'll check out Home Despot and see If a 12 gallon tank upper temp can reach 160F
