Please recommend Clamp style amp meter.

Yeh, they have attachments for everything. The thing that has kept me away from Fieldpiece in the past was... I tried a one meter does all about 30 years ago and I hated it because so often I need to see 3 or more measurement at once when trouble shooting a problem AC or controls. I didn't know until now that they make some very nice multimeter/amp clamps that don't require a bunch of attachments and that's what I want to go along with my other instruments. I'm still using some of the first Fluke meters from when they first became popular and Beckman and Simpson were the big things. It's time for some new toys! I can also say... Don't waste your money on anything made by UEI. About 20 years ago they were supposed to be a high quality and cheaper alternative to Fluke but it's all throw-away junk. Their stuff soon goes out of cal and can't be recal'd. I've also stayed away from Sears, Klein, Greenlee etc cuz UEI taught me not to take a chance on unknown quality. Craig

There's nothing not to love or like about the Fieldpiece system. To some, the initial cost might be a deal-breaker, but if you have a need for even just a couple of the accessories to turn the stick into different types of measuring instruments, the price is good.

So many people are unaware of the existence of Fieldpiece, which is why I thought I'd chime in on this thread.

Not sure to be honest. I have another Sears clamp on but it doesn't do DC amps (ordered it accidentally) and that one still works. Probably just got a bum unit.

I have the PD9260. As Tony the Tiger say's "It's GREAT!"

I have Craftsman AC/DC clamp on, can't tell the model #. It even has a temp probe that I've used a couple of times. I'm thinking it was in the $70 range on sale.

Been a Triplett instrument fan for decades. Tip: If an instrument uses a nine-volt battery, I splurge and fit a lithium - nothing worse than a good meter in hibernation when you need it.

What about getting the fluke clamp for your dmm? I know hvac techs who LOVE fieldpiece.. A tech was at our plant last week with a fieldpiece amp clamp and I REALLY liked it. His was pretty basic and it had K TC but no peak hold. It was small and very well built. I'm going to look into them to see if they have peak hold, capacitance and dc amps. Their prices were very reasonable from what I saw online. I also want water tight. I've had rain come over really fast and trash my meters. Craig

These clamp-on ammeters are worth a look. I've used the MS2108 for the last year. Offers a lot for the money IMO.
