If you want something that can do more than just read amps, buy a Fieldpiece.. This is what I use at work and what I carry with my tools for my RV. These do SO much more than the everyday meter.

They have been around forever. They are mainly geared towards the HVAC industry. I am a plumber, so they come in real handy for me as well. I have heads for measuring carbon monoxide, measuring gas pressures, temperatures. The stick, itself, has a built-in non-contact voltage sensor. They do so much more. This tool is invaluable to me and HVAC techs.
And, as far as the swivel head goes -- you don't need that when you can just take the amp meter head off of the stick and connect it with the probe wires. These things are great.
