Hi, Why would a 30 amp plug connected to a 15 amp shore power show evidence of heating to the point of showing brown marks? The burns are on the "wide" blade. If I was pushing 30 amps from a 30 amp...

I'm one that does.
Have 50A Marinco Twist lock with ring at front AND rear of my 5vr.
Allows me to plug in regardless of where power pedestal is PLUS generator can be plugged into either as needed.
Don't see any more 'potential' problems then other connections.
Factory molded plugs go bad
Aftermarket replacement plugs can short internally
Anything that is abused can be problem when it comes to electrical
