Plugged new TT into 220v (wired wrong by electrician) HELP?!

The electrician knew it was supposed to be 240v, voltmeter would just confirm he did the work correctly.
OP could have checked voltage or asked the electrician to show voltage on the meter...
Just unfortunate.
