position of cradle and generator at the front of class C

Hi,

I'm getting a replacement Yamaha 3000 sIEB generator to replace the one that was stolen.

I'm having a cage custom made to be on twin receivers at the front of the RV.

Since I have more weight on the driver's side than the passenger's side would it make sense to offset the cradle as far to that side as possible?

Passenger's Front 780 kg 1719.61 pounds

Driver's Front 910 kg 2006.21 pounds

  • The new install will be a cage with serious locks on it. I want who ever tries to take it next time to have to use a cutting torch.
  • Hi Rich,

    There was no OEM.

But I know, that isn't the question
  • I would make the rack dead center
And the generator slightly right of center
I'm thinking of a rack larger than the generator
Most of your weight is between the axles
Something in front or on the rear adds not only weight, but leverage
Which multiples the applied weight, turning bouncing etc..

  • Can't say about having the weight to the right. Might distort something else depending on how the rest of the camper is loaded? Might affect your clearance for turning and you can't see it. Put a pole on it so you can see that?

Don't forget the leverage calculation that adds to the weight on the front. Check the driver's manual for that for when adding a snow plow to the truck the Class C is based on.

It sounds like a sensible plan to me. Being sure not to block the lights or too much of the radiator air is, of course, more immediately important than trying to get the weight less unbalanced.
