Power converter issue

I currently have my travel trailer plugged into a 5000 W generator so that I can run a dehumidifier inside to dry some water damage. Apparently the power converter is not functioning as none of the 12 V features(lights, radio) are working.

Will I cause any further damage to the electrical system by leaving it plugged in?

FYI - 30 amp plug with dog bone plugged into 20 amp receptacle on generator.
Thanks

  • I see what you're saying. From past experience, this one does not require connection to battery in order to operate. I had it plugged in(without battery connection)last month at different location, and the lights, radio, outlets all worked.

The WFCO does not require a battery AFAIK. None of them have an internal battery, but some require that they be connected to a battery to work.

  • What converter is in your TT? Some of the older converters require a battery for them to work.

If you turn off the circuit breaker to your converter you probably won't damage anything by leaving the TT plugged in
  • Battery is disconnected.

Outlets are working. Have not had chance to test anything yet.
  • Is your battery disconnect switch off?

Even if your converter isn't working, the battery should still supply power to the lights, etc, unless the battery is fully discharged.
  • Apparently doesn't tell us much. Need to know what voltage coming from converter and if battery ok .
