Power converter

Hello I have a magnetek model 6345 power converter I am having problems with. Before the 12v lights would not work, but 120v was fine. I replaced the converter. Now lights work fine. However I cannot run 12 and ac at same time. It gets hot and blows breakers. They work fine seperatly.

  • Do you have a battery installed and hooked up?? You need the battery in the loop. Check the connections at the breakers, if they are getting that hot, they are loose. A loose connection will cause it to heat up and draw more power.
  • It is a magnetek 6345. The main 30 p breaker is the one getting hot and blowing. I was testing it out last night and I could see the lug where the breaker hooks in was glowing hot! So I pulled all the breaker and unplugged the coach to be safe. Also the converter is on its own separate 20 amp circuit.
  • Very strange, because the 12v and 120 have nothing to do w/ each other, except the 12v converter's input shares the 120 volt ac to power it. If the converter's input is on the same ac circuit as another hi wattage ac appliance, then it could happen. Another genuine elect tech can probably give other ideas.

But you really should give more information than the little you gave, to make trouble shooting it easier.
    Like make/model of converter ??
And what is getting hot??? Blowing which breakers ???
