Power Source For Dometic Vent Fan

I am installing a vent fan on the outside/top of the frige venting system.

I would like for the fan to be energized any time the frige is on. However I am at a loss for the power source.

Anyone do this and have a recommended place in the rear of the frige to tap into 12 V power that will be energized only when the frige is on.

thanx

  • Yep- J2 should work fine. On some models, that lead splits in 2, some even have a quick connect twofer, which is how I would hook it up- make a twofer with wire and quick connects.
  • thanks Chris :S it is a 2862.

I looked at the lettering on the back of the black box and it does not show a J3

So it looks like I open that up and hook into the J2 circuit. And since it shows a fuse there, I am going to go without an inline fuse.

I would appreciate if you would give me a shout back on my intentions. Am going to wait until tomorrow to make the final power hook up. Dave
  • Depending on which model you have, and which board is actually installed, it will be J2 or J3 on the board- J2 usually runs to the interior lamp, J3, if it has it, is for fans, heat tape, etc.
