Powerking Towmax ST235/80R16 Tire Failure

I have had 2 of these tires blow out in a distance of approximately 150 miles of each other.

The first blew and caused $2000 in damage to my 2011 Keystone Cougar 328QBS ... the second happened the day I picked up the trailer from the dealership from being repaired and caused another ~$2000 in damage ... Both tread separation/blowouts occurred with a 0111 DOT Code manufacturing date. both at a travel speed of approximately 60 mph ... both inflated to 80 PSI.

Dynamic Tire in Canada paid for the repairs on the first incident, But are acting like they are refusing to pay for the second incident.

I have found 31 reported cases on the NHTSA website regarding these Powerking Towmax tires
Has anybody else had issues with these tires

    There is a long long history of Chinese ST tire failures and damage in this forum. Did you change the other tires yet? If not, what makes you think you won't be doing $thousands more damage? What did you replace the blown tires with?

    I had the same problem with PowerKing 225/75/r15/lre. 2 tire failures on 2 year old tires that did $4600 damage. I replaced tires and rims with Michelin LT225/75/r16/lre.

    That size seems to be popular with blowouts. No ST is immune.
    I speculate these trailers should have 16" or 17" LT tires.
    Get LT tires that cover the entire GVWR for best results. JMHO

    What was the approx. cost for the replacement rims and tires? I have those same Towmax on mine.

    Unfortunately you didn't catch on after the 1st ST blowout. Get rid of all 4 of your ST tires and upgrade to an LT tire that will fit your rims and weight of your rig.
    The potential for damage is too great to risk using ST tires.

    $1500 for 5 new tires and rims... Sold old ones on Craigslist to help offset cost of new ones.

    Here's some additional information I posted last week on the PowerKing failures I had... This is the 1st time I've tried a link so I hope it works.

    ST tires on a horse trailer and my "old" 5er. 10 years combined, no failures, no weird wear, nothing. And I had the Towmax's on my 5er.

    I had 20K miles and 3 years on my towmax 225/75-15's when I replaced them. still had some good tread, but was getting close to needing new tires before a trip and discount tire had a sale on Maxxis.
