PPL Parts pricing...WOW

I had an issue with my Full Wall Slide. I needed to replace a spur gear. I have been dreading the job but the last time I pulled the slide in I lost another gear on that spur gear. It has 20 teeth & 5 where gone!

I first wanted to be SURE I had the proper gear on order so I climbed underneath & counted the teeth on the spur gear. Once I had all the information on the gear I started calling around...

1st call was PPL parts and was told the part could be ordered & it would be shipped from the manufacturer. I was very happy that the 1st call was successful and ordered the part. The gear was 45.00 and I ordered it.

Now, since the next BIG outing was a week away I decided to order a 2nd gear from another source. I was afraid that PPL would drag their feet.

Of ALL PLACES ordering the part from Fleetwood was only $20.00!!! Yes, $20.00 for the gear and about $5 shipping.

Part arrived within 4 days. I spen about 3 hours installing the gear. Had to have the slide fully in while replacing the gear. Had to drop the fron half of the converter rack so that I could tilt it down & get to the actual gear.

All in all it went VERY well. Not a job for the average DIY type. Had to use a C clamp to get the rollers & other hardware installed.

I'm still waiting for the PPL part, I did see an email Friday stating that it was ready to ship.

Now the slide goes in/out w/o ANY issues. Just need to replace a slide seal.

Never ordered any parts from PPL. Would like to hear other experiences with PPL.

I have a Splindide 2000S thats starting to look like it needs a new hot/cold solenoid manafold. Anybody have a good lead for Splendide parts?

Thanks all
  • Every time I shop after I buy I get a rude awakening. Gotta quit that.

When we FTd would stop for fuel........10 miles down road fuel would be less.
GF would point out the lower price. I would explain that if I had not fueled up at the other station and waited for next one price would be higher

    Point being...once I purchased STOP LOOKING :B
  • The only place I know of to buy Splendide parts is Westland Sales in Oregon.
  • Funny this thread got started...... Here's my PPL story.

I ordered an Atwood Range and a HydroFlame Heater from them in February.

The Heater came first FedEX Ground with no problems. Then came (the first) Range FedEX Ground. I had to refuse it as it looked damage and the driver would not let me open the package without signing for it and that I was not going to do.

So I notified PPL and they arranged to have a second range shipped via freight this time. Well, needless to say after the carrier lost the range for a few days this unit looked in worst shape than the first so I refused again.

So, again, PPL arranged for another (third) range to be shipped out, the same carrier I might add. So this time they (the carrier) arranged a delivery day and time. Well the time went by with no delivery.

So I called the carriers local office looking for the delivery and they told me it was there and that if I didn't like the last one I sure wouldn't like this one so they shipped it back!

So, once again, I called PPL. This time they handed the matter off to another salesperson who told me they had a unit in the warehouse and would bubble wrap and pallet it and ship it out.

So, it comes the same carrier again. This time there was no visible damage so I signed for it. Got it into the shop and opened it up. The factory packaging was in kind of ragged shape and it had clearly been opened and then taped shut again.

After I got the packaging open it was clear the unit was damaged. It looked as if it had some top and left side impact damage. But here's the rub, the bubble wrapping it was shipped in had no impact damage whatsoever! I've come to the conclusion PPL shipped me a damage unit in the first place.

So right now I'm hashing out how we're going to rectify this matter.

I'll let you know just as soon as I do.

    =(
  • Thanks for the update, Coma back to this thread for an update, this is sounding interesting! Hope this next go-around works out!
  • Before buying RV stuff I always shop for price. PPL has been my choice many times. I have been more than satisfied with their service. Items arrive in 3 days. I have talked with the folks in the parts department and they have always been polite & helpful.
