Praise for TST TPMS

As someone that is going purchase a system from them next month thanks for the post.

How did we ever survive before TPMSs came along?

I've had the TST 507 system for 4 or 5 years and it works great.

IMO some improvements are like power windows and power door locks. Are they necessary? No. Could you get along fine without them? Yes. Are they really, really handy? You betcha, and that's the clincher. Power steering, automatic transmission, microwaves, TV, DVD/VCR, air conditioning, indoor plumbing, central heating, etc. All are actually unnecessary, but are pretty easy to get used to having around.

We have the same system (3 of them actually) and, like others, generally like it very much.

You may still need a repeater/booster.

When the monitor loses a sensor's signal (due to distance/interference/whatever) it can be up to an hour before that loss shows up on your monitor. For up to an hour, your monitor may continue to display readings from memory.

Just because your monitor is displaying reading, those readings could be up to an hour old.

Some of us did not realize this until recently.

A signal booster/repeater would help lessen the possibility of sensor signal loss, according to TST.
(And, no, I'm not trying to sell you one. :) ).

Not faulting TST or TPMS systems in general. That's just the nature of the beast.

As I keep saying, TPMS systems don't make us bullet-proof, but I sure feel safer traveling with one than without one.

I put the TST 507 on several years ago. Have never had a low tire, but just being able to glance at the monitor and see tire pressures does indeed give peace of mind. And knowing there will be an alarm for low pressure is also great in case I have not looked at the monitor for a while.

How many of you users, towing a travel trailer, needed a booster?

Should I just buy one when I buy the system?

We bought our first set of TSTs to use on our 24' ViewFinder. We did get dropped signals, but didn't realize then what they meant (that the signal had actually been gone for an hour before we got an alarm.)

Whether or not you'll "need" a repeater/booster depends on lots of things things like how far will your farthest sensor be from your monitor and how much electronics gear (gps, wireless fridge thermometer and the like) you have around.

Interference can come from alot of sources....even those systems that control the traffic lights for emergency vehicles, I was told by a TPMS maker. (Not TST).

Better to have it and use it, even if you don't need it....rather than find out you needed one and didn't have it, IMO.

TireMinder puts a repeater/booster in every set they sell. TST sells them as an add-on. Don't know how much price difference there is.

I used to have lost signals with my 507 system when I put the monitor on the dash of the truck. I started mounting the monitor high on the windshield under the rear view mirror and it picks up the signal great up there. Made a huge difference.
