Don't think I ever said Johnson Controls brand. I specified them as a manufacturer.
I'm not sure how to treat a starting battery. I install it, goop up the terminals against corrosion, then drive the vehicle. What else does one do? Unless you're referring to abusing it in some manner, which I haven't done.
By the way, I found the receipt. It was less than 18 months old. I had it load tested twice. The first tester said it was shot, the second one (who is also the original vendor) said it passed, but was on it's last quarter of life. They still replaced it for free. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. Guess it's time to climb underneath and verify that the starter has good connections.
