New valve installed, filled back up with water and fired it up.
(Ya, I sort of know I got ripped when I bought new valve. Hardware store is closet to me and one of those that has just about everything. Saves trips but I still pay the price. For example I had to buy a chuck of PVC. A 10 foot piece was exactly double what the big box store sells it for. But don't have to drive 16 miles round trip either)
Water heater warming up and new valve has no leaks. (Don't know if I should say; No leaks yet or no leaks period....we'll see).
Will post again when burner shuts off meaning water up to temp.
