I will speak from experience on the champion 4500/3500 vs a honda eu3000.I had the champ it was a great buy for the money and i used it hard noise wasnt as bad but definitely not super quiet depending on where you camped at most was desert OHV area so at times you couldnt hear it.Camp in a forest or other campground it was loud but you could hear the tone off my honda here too just not as bad.
As far as power out put they both ran my 13.5k AC with no probs and were fine for my toyhauler. But when i tried my air compressor on the champion it struggled and couldnt get it running. My honda although rated lower could get it running i can also get away using the micro and AC for a short time couldnt do it on the champion.IMO the champ was overated in the power no way it was a 4500 surge.
Reliabilty the champion and a previous eliminator 300 i had they lasted 3.5 years between both of them the elim 300 lasted 1.5 years the champ lasted 2 years. My honda i bought used and i am sure it had a decent amount of hours on it.Currently had it for 3.5 years right now and its showing no sign of tiring down.
Fuel useage no match the champ would suck it down while using the AC the honda goes way longer.A week desert trip to glamis i used about 15-17 gallons in the champ. The honda uses 6-7 gallons. So far in the last3.5 years i feel i got my monies worth out of the honda
IMO get what will work and fit your budget but in the long run the honda will be the better buy and cheaper overall.Only downside is that it may be harder to put 2k upfront for a new one vs 3-4 hundy for a champion although a used 3000 honda can be found for 1200-1500
