price of electricity

Hi,

I believe battery size is only 4.4 kwh. Worst case about 40 cents a day--but unless you are driving less than 11 miles round trip, the gas engine will do a lot of the recharging. I seriously doubt you notice the difference on your monthly power bill.

How far do you drive on your commute?

My LEAF costs maybe $50 to go 1500 miles per month. (before solar)
Prius goes ~200 electric miles per month. You will not even see it buried in normal fluctuation. Electric is practically free compared to gasoline.

For SCE having a plug in vehicle allows favorable TOU rates that make a smaller home solar power system very attractive.
