So from what I gather, my Progressive Dynamics 9200 series 55 amp converter charger that will bulk charge and do there false equalization at 14.3 or 14.4 volts is OK for the 2 AGM Group 27's. My only concern is will it really allow less generator use when dry camping to maintain it daily. Is it really worth the difference between the cost?
Same generator time doing a 50-90. You just need to get 55 from your 55 instead of 35 or get a better 55.
EDIT--Doing 50-80s saves more time--that 80-90 takes an hour on 220AH.
With a 55 constant amps, a 50-80 on 220 takes about 80 minutes.
At constant 35 amps that would take 120 minutes.
Save 40 minutes of gen time for a 50-80 on 220 going from 35 to 55.
Probably it's the wiring from that PD to the batts, making it only do 35. Replacing the PD in the same spot won't help--still need to change the wires.
Best bet is leave the PD there and get a 55 or whatever the gen will run higher than that (what size is the gen?) and use it as a portable charger. Here is one example that will certainly do its rated amps constant during Bulk (no tapering somewhat during Bulk like PDs are reported to do) $123 plus shipping.
