Progressive Industries EMS display brightness - annoying?

Ours is mounted in the hallway between the bedroom and the bathroom. You can see it while sitting on the throne. Think it would be annoying if mounted where you would see it all the time during normal activities. Was going to mount it in the cabinet where all the other switches for water heater, etc. are but did nit have a long enough cable and did not feel like running out for one.
