That pull handle plug will not allow cover to fully close but will give some protection


Our portable 50A is 10 yrs old and has NO covers.
It has hung from power pedestals in ALL kinds of increment weather....rain, sleet, snow, driving winds etc

Thanks Old-Biscuit. I actually have the old version like yours (but 30A), but one blade on the plug is badly discolored. So thought I'd buy the new model.

They didn't used to have a cover and one is not really needed but they do now. Now you can't get it without it. It is a great product however and American made. Bestconverter usually has the best prices and service.

Yes, I have been using the old model without the cover for several years. So I know I don't have to put the cover on the new one. Just wondered anyway if my 30A plug would fit under it. Thanks for the tip about Bestconverter.

Best Converter does have GREAT Service and Support

Not always the best in price.

I have found several items much lower elsewhere

My Progressive 50AMP EMS (portable) says it can be used in any kinds of weather...but not submerged.

Have had it for years, in snow and rain downpours...no problems.

i have this model. my cover "partially" covers my plug. ive been very happy with it. pricey but well worth the investment in my opinion..

You could also cut the handle off your connector and leave it permanently attached to the PT-30. The handle is useless unless you are constantly unplugging the cord. Or you could purchase the EMS-HW30C or EMS-LCHW30 and permanently mount it on your rig. They are easy to install and uninstall if you change rigs. Personally, I would get the 50 amp versions and then you would also be set for your next rig. They are more expensive but cheaper to buy one now and not by another later.

This is the method we used, and mounted the unit in the coach, I didn't want a unit that could be grabbed quickly, If they were going to steal it they are going to work for it.
As the box is in the coach and protected we never gave the weather a thought.

With the size of that plug it doesn't look like the rain cover will completely cover the plug. The cover on mine with the standard plug acts more like an umbrella as it doesn't close all the way. But it's good enough to keep most weather off the plug.
