The display isn't bright but the bedroom might not be a good location. So much better to be able to see the display inside rather than to go outside and especially when using 30A power and the more likely low voltage. My remote is in a cabinet.

Sounds like you could install it depending upon what you have to do. Mine is installed w/o cutting any wires so the original wiring could be easily restored.

If it fails PI may just send you the parts. Unlike SG their unit has field replacable parts.

My PI EMS went bad the second year I had it. Called them, shipped it to them and had it back in a week. No charge. (they said the problem was a bad gasket and it got water in it.

Mine is below the refrigerator, inside the cover behind the water heater, out of sight. If I need to see it, I open the cover, and there it is. I had to check it last weekend because it cut power off and I wanted to know why. High voltage.

Hard wired or portable doesn't make any difference from a safety standpoint, but I can tell you after 4 year of full time use I would NEVER plug my 5'er into ANY outlet without my PD EMS. I have seen too many issues in campgrounds, been shut down myself so many times I don't remember the total, and even once at my home base site for high voltage. A transformer was failing in a residential neighborhood where there are 8 homes and my rig on one transformer. You just never know.

I even have a spare PD EMS in a box to use if my primary one ever fails or dies while saving my rig and has to be returned to PD.
