Water gets in the vent, messes up stuff. causes corrosion, which in turn ruins the regulator. Now the regulator needs a huge drop of pressure across the diagram to work.
YES.....I am aware.
Water intrusion, clogged screen, debris inside regulator will cause regulator to malfunction.
Was just trying to get clarification so OP understood and why it is important for proper installation of regulator.
