I read that this is a large pain to find the leak, and that propane companies will often fix for free. I live in the Spokane, WA area and called a couple and none will even look at it. I'm hesitant to go to the dealer, as the local dealer likes to charge $300 for anything. And I'm too busy/lazy to try to diagnose it myself.
This is a 2013 shockwave toy hauler, I noticed it just a month after my warranty was up and I didn't buy an extended warranty.
Please let me know your thoughts on the best way to get it fixed.
Thanks!!
Why do you wait since last year to address this potential health hazard now, as if it's an afterthought?
Do you not understand the dangers of a flammable explosive gas leaking out and igniting and destroying your toy hauler as well as injuring other innocent bystanders potentially nearby?
May I suggest you adjust your priorities in life in the future to gas leaks needing immediate attention. Do not wait, it's a fuel leak.
Let me know where your 5th wheel is camped or stored, so I can stay far, far, far away.
The power of leaking propane
Niner,
Good stuff and a pertinent link. Folks just aren't very careful with gas, it can be tragic.
I've got my own story: Years ago, in MN, the dead of Winter, I was working inside a towboat, disassembling the main engine. My supervisor thought I should have some heat so directed one of the shipyard guys to roll out a 100 lb. cylinder and an area heater placed in the engine room. When I arrived in the morning, the heater was on and the engine room was somewhat warming. The heater wasn't working right (spitting and fussing) so I went over to it and turned up the valve. The last thing I saw before my eyes closed was a wall of yellow flame shooting across the engine room and plenty of black smoke. I ran up the ladder and turned the tank off. It wasn't until I was at the tank, I saw that the yard guy hadn't put a regulator on the tank but had piped it directly to the hose. One singed nose and a new look for eyebrows was all it took for me to gain some respect. :B
