Propane Pigtail

I'm going to replace the pigtail on my propane tank. I know some folks like to use a type of goop, some use the white Teflon "plumbers tape," while others use a specific type of Teflon tape made specifically for gas. Looking for advice on which is better, if any. Thanks.

NONE. Should have an inverted flair on regulator end and O-ring seal on the tank side.

Dope and tape are for tapered pipe threads only.

BTW I recommend Cavagna brand pigtail for a superior crimp on the hose.

The OP is replacing the pigtail. The side at the regulator will require a sealant.

  • Neither one is "better". They will both work for that job.
  • Use the yellow gas tape or the sealant goop both available at any hardware store.
