Propane tank problem

Butane is often added to propane. Butane has a lower boiling point than propane so during cold weather you get screwed. If the tanks were filled for a southern state and it's 20* you might just be at the point of no luck.

The tank that is not flowing might be great for when the temps get up into the 40's.

I dropped the tank several times very heavy on the ground and reattached it to the lines in the camper, nothing. I bought another tank and brought it home and attached it to the camper with a gauge in the line so I could see how much pressure was coming from the tank. I guess it being so cold, twenty degrees outside right now, that the propane doesn't flow as well as when it is 70 or eighty degrees. Anyway the in line gauge shows I have gas now flowing through the lines in the camper. Now what do I do with the tank that is full and can't get anything out of it?

A typical problem for some is the belief that propane will flow out when nothing is attached, and they open the valve. Nope. Those valves and feed lines are such that nothing will flow unless the feed line is attached to it.

Has the gas detector been turned off accidentally? It happens. If more than one tank is the changeover valve in the right position? JMT

Try to open the valve very, very slowly. Sometimes the outrush of gas causes the emergency valve to engage...
