My propane tank is very low and I cant get to a propane station for a while. Is there a way to connect a portable tank to the RV system?

Sure. A long pig tail connected either by a T or directly replacing the line from the onboard tank will work. Then you can either connect a 5gallon tank or rent a large tank and have it delivered.
