Proud of first diy fix

Purchased new 2013 tt, had leaky slide repaired at CW. Took trailer out for overnight shakedown as we are leaving on 10 day trip next week. When we used our black tank flush, it flooded the bathroom. My husband was so disgusted, thinks we got a lemon (everything else works great) and wanted to get it in right away for repair. Thanks to everyone on this forum I told him we need to be proactive and work out some of these things on our own- rather than bringing it in for every little thing all the time! So I searched this site(and others) and was able to find the likely problem and location. Well, it worked!!! Just a simple loose fitting that took all of 30 seconds to fix! Easy peasy. So glad we didn't waste our time taking it in. There is so much information out there if you look for it and these forums are priceless :)

  • Used to have rely on the techs but now you can get a lot of great info here its just great how people trade info and manuals.
  • Thanks everyone!I know it wasn't a complicated fix, but it's fixed! Since we wont have the internet when traveling, I'm trying to absorb as many possible fix-its (including non-moving slide!) before we leave. It seems there is nothing that hasn't been addressed here on this wonderful site!
  • Now that is the way to do it! Just think if you were out in the boonies and had an issue to fix and no way to get there? (think slide motor) :h Getting more knowledge about your RV takes fixing the little things. Good going.

Oh and on a broken slide motor, you should have a handle to manually put it back in. :W
  • Good on you! Being able to do a few things on your own is very liberating isn't it?
  • Great story! Congrats on the new TT and glad to hear you guys found the fix!
  • congrats... knowing how to take care of the easy things and even some of the harder things will serve you well. Both financially , but also in that every time you inspect the unit closely and fix the little things you can stay well ahead of big damage.
