DIY Awning

I know we are not the first to do this, but I wanted to post it anyways in case someone else wants an inexpensive awning on their TC.

We bought 6 eye hooks and cut off part of the eye to create open hooks. Why this way? Because we could not find open hooks robust enough for the project at our local Home Depot. We caulked around each eye hook.

We placed three on each side of the TC so that we can hang the awning on either side depending on our need. We often pull forward into back-in sites because of the need to drop the ramp on our cargo trailer.

We use a pole with a small two-pronged end on it to place the carabiners onto the hooks. The whole process takes less time than when we had a TT and "real" awning system on it. We are currently using a 10x12 tarp. We have now camped two times with this set-up and really like it so far.
