Prowler Slideout Help

My slideout, on my 2006 Prowler Lynx, has been squealing when going in and out since I bought it a year ago. I finally had time to crawl under and look at it. I had to cut the coroplast so I could access the gear pack. I lubed the one that was squealing with some dry silicone lubricant, which took care of the noise. I went to lube the other one and found the bearing on the gear pack (think brass bushing)was missing and just flopping around in the mount.

I ordered the gear pack and should be here on Friday. My question is how the heck to I replace it. I have searched the forum and the internet and can't find anything relevant. Its a Lippert Slide (I think) and is fairly easy to access, I'm just not sure weather I have to support the slide, jack it up slightly or whether the slide should be in or out or somewhere in the middle.

I am extremely handy, jack of all trades master of one(I have my master HVAC). I think Weird Al wrote the song Handy for me. :)
  • I just cut three sides with a razor knife, folded it out of the way and sealed it back up with Gorilla tape. Looks factory. I might have to replace it every year but tape is cheap.
  • Thanks for the follow-up.

I am running out of things to check on ours and would need to deal with the underbelly cover (no fun at all! :( ) to see that part. Looks like that's next. :(
  • Well I didn't bother calling them. I went back out and looked at it again and thought I would give it shot. Went very smoothly. After I figured out how to get to all the bolts and get vice-grips on the nuts on the back-side of the bolts, it came out smoothly and went back it almost as smoothly.

FYI you do have to jack up the slide but just a 1/4" or so, just enough to get the through bolts lined up. I had the slide out 3" or so.

Bearings on the gear pack were completely gone lots of play in the mounting plates. The slide runs so much smoother and it's quiet, faster too. Well worth the 80.00 for the part and 45 min. of labor.
  • You can get drawings of the slide-out system on Lippert's website and you can get tech support too. Or for a human to talk to, call

    1-866-524-7821 Lippert tech support.

I have found them very helpful on some issues now having with a 12 yr old system. (Fixable)
