SYes, PEX pipes transfer the vibration. But the sound of the actual pump doesn't disappear with soft piping or sandwiching the foam under the pump. Like I said, it was pretty loud when I was holding it in my hands, disconnected from trailer floor. Don't remember the exact name now, but it is not Shurflo Revolution - some earlier 3 chamber Shurflo.
Back to the Flowjet with by-pass. The consensus seems to be that it doesn't need expansion tank to smooth the flow, but the by-pass is a no substitute for expansion tank either. You open the faucet a trickle, or flush the toilet - and the pump with by-pass (and without exp. tank) will go online immediately. I hope I got it right.
