Why should it matter whether the controller (without any buck converter in it) controls from the neg or pos side? It is still a straight pass through until it starts controlling by switching doing PWM.
Meanwhile Mr Wiz is seeing 17-14 which means it is not a "pass-through" or else it is in Absorption and his 17v is "meter averaging"
If it is not a pass through, then how does it control? If it has a buck converter but no MPPT then how can it pick that 17v? If it has no MPPT how can it pick any voltage such as to "match the load" as with an MPPT controller in PWM when it picks a voltage above Vmp somewhere? The voltage picking circuit is the same one that does the MPPT?
If the buck converter is always matching the load by its very nature ???, then why would it pick 17v when an MPPT in PWM would be picking something higher, above Vmp and closer to Voc?
The C40 manual says it controls voltage by playing with its dump loads, but it reads as though this is not when acting as a PV controller. Correct? So it is still a switch type controller when acting as a PV controller?
Mr Wiz uses terms like "working current" and "working voltage" which could be Imp and Vmp, but then what has that to do with a C40 which says in its manual it is a "Series PWM"?
Mr Wiz knows way more about all this electrical stuff than I do, so I am the wrong one to be arguing with him, but I still would like to know what the answer is to what I find very confusing.
Perhaps somebody more qualified than I am can help resolve all this without me annoying Mr Wiz anymore. Thanks
