Is this item basically the same thing as the one made by micro air.....just without all the fancy housing and labeling? Ebay item 131690262156
highly unlikely that it is anything similar to the micro air easy start.
Personal experience.
Coleman Mach III with supco easy start cap
Generator Honda 2000
all other 120V loads in the trailer turned off including converter.
starting. turn off eco mode, usually will start the AC at sea level and temps below 85 F, but the generator struggled.
Never would start the AC at temps near 100
Never would start the AC at altitudes above 1000F, even at low temps.
these conditions required that I parallel my honda's. and even then it usually wouldn't start if they were in eco mode.
installed micro air easy start.
temp 100F
altitude 4500Ft
one honda 2000 on eco mode.
AC would start every time, and the honda never struggled to start the AC. However, those temps and altitude does exceed the continous run current from the honda 2000 so it would eventually trip on an overload.
I did some measurements of peak starting currents as well. Locked rotor amps are around 60A for the Mach III even with a soft start cap.
peak inrush current with the micro air is less than 20A. within what the honda can handle for startup. Peak inrush current and locked rotor current was measured with a NIST traceable clamp on current probe capable of capturing 10ms or narrower peaks.
