You mean for paralleling generators? They generally require the same brand and model of generator on either end, at least officially speaking, and the generator definitely needs to be a design that specifically supports paralleling (i.e. many inverter generators, pretty much no traditional non-inverter generators).
The parallel kits do work well. The magic is all in the generator; the kits are just wires and connectors. There is special circuitry in the generator to sync the power waveforms up and share the load (the latter happens somewhat automatically once they are in sync).
