Man, I sure do wish your posts would offer some sort of useful information, Mex. :)
OK...
1. Sounds like I will need to ask him about his testing methodology. I ASSumed he was using the Aussie glass unit. I hope to GOD he didn't employ the dreaded plastic balls or worse... the useless, floaty arrow.
2. He got the 480s at wholesale, so he may not be giving them their due respect. Not sure if he'll get that discount again, so yeah... he may end up giving a bunch of labor fruits back to Rolls.
3. Your take on the dead one is interesting. If I was a bettin' man... I wouldn't bet AGAINST Surrette. So it now appears that the other 7 may be on borrowed time.
Now...
Surrette does spec these batteries at 1.280. I know that's not 1.3, but I should think there is room for error on their end and I bet they would err on the side of over vs. under.

And it appears Rolls wants 60 for the bulk and absorption phases at wintertime temps. I'll remind him that he should drop it down according to the chart on pg. 11 in the following manual...
