- BFL13Explorer IISomething is screwy with the 2000w gen trying to run a charger on the batts running a 2800w inverter, which has how much of a load? (load not stated)
Somehow you need to break this down into understandable stages for what is running what when.
But you are right, this should not be happening, and could perhaps be solved with a little shuffle of the set-up. - JiminDenverExplorer IIThe CPAP is a 5a draw at 12v or 120v? At 120v 5a is 50a plus inverter losses at 12v. If that's the case, I can see why you are waking up to dead batteries.

I'm not sure what this has to do with solar. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIThis needs to be broken down and I can offer this: Your Magnum 2800 is capable of a 125A charge and that alone is about 1600W. Add a few more day time loads and it's no wonder the gen tripped out. Doesn't your Magnum have the capability of changing the charge rate? My Magnum ME 2012 does and I often do this when on a 20A pedestal.
So if you can turn your Magnum down then the gen should be fine. Mine is in settings, charge rate but read your manual.
Next your post implies that you then continued on solar charging for the day.
If the CPAC draws 5A at 120V then that is about 55A out of the batteries and in about 4 hours the batteries would be at 50% SOC. ie Your dead batteries at night. - CA_TravelerExplorer III"I would look at the voltage gauge and it would read 12.7 volts and the charging light would be blinking green, other times it was fully charged and would read 14.2 volts."
Is it 12.7V because the Magnum has entered the 4th charging state - Namely it's detected fully charged batteries with minimum charge and entered the No Charge state? RTFM.
If the Magum is working correctly and the voltage is 14.2V then it's charging the batteries and they are NOT fully charged. What meter is telling you they are 100% charged? I'm wondering if it's calibrately correctly. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIThere are folks here that will help and they have a lot of experience.
That includes me but I don't like the implications of your title. Please edit your first post and change the title. Thanks - MrWizardModeratorwhat is on the inverter, whole house ? and how long have you had this setup
on the face of it, it sounds like whole house everything, and the fridge was set to auto, which means it went to A/C from inverter an batteries, 345w about 30amps and sucked you dry, also possible if the water heater has an electric heating option
we need more specific details - CJW8ExplorerSome things you must do when boondocking. 1. Make sure fridge is on propane only, not electric and not automatic. 2. Make sure your water heater is on propane only, not electric. 3. If whole house inverter, make sure your converter in off. Is it possible your inverter is truly whole house and was feeding your converter charger? This will cause un-perpetual motion! Inverter powers converter-charges batteries-batteries power inverter and it goes around and around until your batteries die.
Also, look at your CPAP bottom or back and give us the electrical specifications. Voltage?, AC?, Does it plug into well? with what? a cord or a power supply? Or just give us the model of the CPAP and we'll look it up. - CA_TravelerExplorer III" Is it possible your inverter is truly whole house and was feeding your converter charger?"
Good question - The Magnum is a charger/inverter and it won't charge and invert at the same time. However, is your original rig charger turned off or better yet disabled?
