question on sanitizing water system adding bleach tank

Yes. I add the 2 cups of bleach to a 5 gallon water jug that is filled the rest of the water with water, and siphon that in. then I hook up the hose, and powerfill the fresh the rest of the way. And finally, turn on the water pump, and run the bleach water through all the fixtures.

Again, it will not be concentrated bleach. Pour the small amount of bleach into the 5 gallon bucket and you just have some over chlorinated water not concentrated bleach. Please check sites like Clorox or Google to see how little bleach is actually required to sanitize your system. You also do not need to fill the tank as you can put some water in, drive it a bit to slosh the water around, run the water through all the lines and let it all just sit for a few minutes. Drain, fill, flush, fill and you are good to go.

I just wanted to make sure that I would not damage anything sucking the concentrated bleach solution through the Nautilus System.

I guess I know what I'll be doing today! The good news is I can let the lines sit overnight along with my water hoses in buckets of bleach solution. Should all be good to go tomorrow afternoon!

For a tank your size...

Use 1 cup of bleach in about a gallon of water. Suck that all into the water tank, or pour it in someway. Then fill the tank with regular water, no more bleach.

Take the bypass off the water heater so it will fill. Then open all the faucets, with both hot and cold water, so you smell bleach coming out the hot and bleach coming out the hold. That means the water heater has been filled.

Let it all set for 12 hours or longer.

Drain the tank. Refill with fresh water. Open all the hot and cold faucets and run water until the bleach smell disipates. Drain the tank, refill, and run water until the bleach smell is completely gone.

Don't overdo the bleach. Enough is enough and more doesn't work better.

Don't forget the outside shower.

Mix a tablespoon of bleach in a gallon of water and pour it in your drinking water hose. Fill the hose as full as possible and screw the ends together. Let that set for a while and flush it out thoroughly. Slime can grow in there, too.

Bleach? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

The usual amount used is 1/4 cup for every 15 gallons - and that is plenty. So the OP needs 1 cup full.
As long as you can smell it when the water comes out of the faucet, it's enough.

It's only 60 tablespoons to 60 gallons of water so you are only going to be adding about 1/4 gallon of bleach. Put a bit of water in the tank, add the 1/4 gallon to the bucket and suck it all in.

Dont forget about the 6 or 10 gallons in the water heater. You have to sanitize it too. You'll actually need 66 to 70 gallons plus what the water lines hold plus what goes down the drain each time you open a spigot to fill the risers.

It's not going to hurt anything except biologicals by putting most of the bleach in the first bucket and a small amount in the last bucket.

I have a 2 gallon Reliance water jug with a 2 foot piece of tubing on it. I fill it half way then add all the bleach, then I top it off. I pour it into the tank, then top off the tank. I run it through the lines, fill the 6 gallon water heater. Then I add another 2 gallons with 2 ounces of bleach with the Reliance container then top off the water tank.

I always just dump the bleach in straight from a measuring cup and then fill the tank with water. 60 gallons of water pouring over where the bleach went in is enough to dilute it.

My TT holds fifty gallons of fresh water...tank, water heater and lines. I put 25 gallons in the tank and add all the bleach in the next three gallons. Then I finish filling the tank, fill the water heater and run the solution through the lines with the pump. Then I top off the tank. Siesta time.
