To me, the solar cycle is not dawn to dusk. I go by the battery cycle of lowest SOC to highest SOC in the day. Approx 8am to 5pm for us (after breakfast till before supper), never mind sunrise to sunset is 5am to 10pm or whatever.
So the idea is to have enough solar to charge from whatever we get down to by 8am to as near full as possible by 5 pm. I have discretion over loads to keep amps positive in that time interval. I don't worry about usage earlier and later.
How far down we get by 8am and how cloudy it is that day determines how far up we get in SOC by 5pm. Everything is so variable so we have ended up with the set-up we have after some experience with different amounts of solar for the location we go camping that time of year.
It must be different for each RVer in each location at each time. Not territory for rules of thumb that mean anything?
