Just to quibble, I am not sure it is correct that the solar is feeding the loads directly when net amps is negative. (solar to batt is less than charging and draw)
When solar is is higher than batt acceptance rate, you can have load draw to make up the difference and still have pos net amps. At such times I suppose solar could be said to be running the load directly, although via the battery with my controller (load terminals not being used)
Yes, you can reduce the loads to achieve more charging. "There will be no movies until morale improves" :)
