Radio/CD player switches itself on randomly

Yes, it does ! Don't know why. In some cases it seems to be when we use the WiFi MAC computers, other times we really don't know ! It's a Jensen AWM910 with a remote control, which we don't use. In fact we don't use the unit very much at all. Thus turning itself on randomly is a PITA.

I was thinking of adding a 1960's flip switch to it, so as to REALLY turn it OFF. But on the back there are three wires labelled as having + 12 volts DC on them, and one Ground wire.

The three wires with + 12 volts DC are as follows:

1) Battery 2) Switched 3) Trigger

The Battery and Switched wires have in-line fuses.

Which wire(s) should I connect a single or double pole switch to ? Thanks. Just to get rid of one more noise in our lives !

  • Connect a switch in-line with the "Switched" wire. That should turn the Jensen off. The "Battery" wire keeps the memory in tact.

  • Could someone answer my question please !!!!!!! None of the replies above explains why it comes on sometimes when we send an e-mail via WiFi ! A sure proof switch is the only way IMHO to make sure the @@#%#% thing is OFF !!!
  • We replaced our Original equipment Olivia flat screen LCD TV with an LG LED flat screen. Noticed that there are conflicts between the remote for the TV and the Jensen DVD radio player. That could account for the "randomness"
  • I had a radio/CD player that was designed for a remote, even though it came without one. The TV remote would cause it to come on. Took apart, and put tape over the sensor.

  • When I worked we had a customer with a piece of heavy equipment that had a radio that would come on whenever it wanted. When he brought in into the shop to get the radio replaced we found the weather band alert was turned on and it would turn on the radio give the worning and then the radio would stay on and go to the last station it was on.
