20 pounders, and 30’s too for that matter, are notoriously poor value for the money.
A 20 pounder holds 4.7 gallons of propane, the price per gallon is about $2.85 a gallon, so by that it should cost about $13.40 to fill one from totally empty.
The best value would be to get a local supplier to rent you either 30 pound forklift type cylinders or 100 pounders.
With 30’s you can take them out to be filled yourself if you’re fairly mobile, 100 pounders not so much.
