Range hood fan speed control

Nobody's asked..I guess it's understood the fan on 100% sucks out the smoke, but also the heat. And it's really noisy.

Another problem is that with the fan running at a lower speed, it's not enough pressure to open the vent flap, so I'll have to come up with a fix for that.

No problem so far, after almost two years in this coach. I suppose the grease filter provides some heat protection as well. I did the same mod in our previous coach, and that one is still working fine as far as I know. I did use the speed control on the previous install, but quickly discovered that it wasn't needed.

I changed mine to a 160mm computer case fan. Very quiet and moves tons of air. Did it at the same time I changed out the lights to a different base light for better visibility.

True, but perhaps more heat resistant? More fire resistant?

Agree though, prolly not an issue.

My existing fan fits in an approx. 160mm opening.

Could remove that and prolly mount a 170mm case fan behind the opening with some spacers. Looks like it would fit.

Does this directly replace an OEM camper stove exhaust hood fan? Is it 12V and hook up with the same wires? I've always been annoyed with the noisiness of the stove hood fan and like the idea of a quick easy quiet replacement.

I installed a PWM module about a year ago on our noisy exhaust vent fan and we love it, slowing the fan down makes it so much quieter and we can adjust the speed to meet the need.
