A battery explosion. This is not uncommon in hard paralleled banks. It happens when a cell shorts. If the there is a parallel battery to supply the energy to heat the shorted cell to explosion, then it can happen pretty fast and with little or no warning.
I like paralled banks now. I have learned how to clean up and neutralize the spilled acid and and replace all the damaged parts much faster than I used to, so the repair (while still expensive to the owner) nets me a good day.
