The last post is true, Batteries fail in one of three modes.
1: Shorted call... This is the one that damages the parallel batteries
2: High resistance (Basically this battery disconnects itself and is no longer part of your system)
3: Low capacity (Wore out)
NOW: These last two CAN damage a partner battery but only if you have a very large and very aggressive converter.. Not so much if you have a smaller converter.
But still, you got to hit Group 31 before 12 volt pairs can match six volt pairs for capacity and even then you can't use as much of it.
