Look at the weights and you can easily understand why two 6-volt batteries are preferable to a huge 12-36 volt battery. RV's often use 6V batteries but they were not the intended market for them.
My truck has two 12V batteries and I am very glad that GM did not put in a special 24V battery as it would have a 150 lb. weight that would require a crane to install safely in the engine compartment.
I'm glad GM didn't put a 24V battery in your truck either, it would have blown the******out of the electronics!! The 12V are in parallel, still only 12V.
