Knowing the model of your awning would help, but mine had 3 pop rivets I drilled out, unhook power after removing the cover on inside of arm. Support the main roller tube assembly and motor assembly will pull out fairly easy. Important note on re-install: When motor drive assembly is properly aligned, it is placed in the roller tube with the motor slot positioned under the channel
with the fabric rope. I would take a few pics to reference but it is not a bad job to replace. The torsion spring is on the other end and that can get you if you disassemble without pinning that end. Just be able to support your awning/tube assembly with a ladder to rest it on while you have the motor out and removed from awning arm.
