The reason that extended run tanks work on the Honda, is because it has a fuel pump.
So you run a line into the top of the fuel cap from an external tank, and the vacuum created by the fuel pump sucks fuel in from the external tank.
Setting up an external tank for a generator which uses gravity feed is a whole other ball game.
