I would be setting up a 24 volt system and run an extension cord from the inverter to the RV main power plug. I understand if I use a true sinwave inverter I could plug a generator into the inverter to help charge the batteries if needed but I'm not sure I want to pay the higher price for that capability.
there are a .. FEW .. inverters that can be synced with a generator, most can NOT, just because they are PSW does not mean they sync with the generator
but syncing is for extra power, Not for charging
charging is done by the converter/charger
or
by the charge section of a inverter-converter 'COMBO' unit
but there is No inverter function when the charging and no charging function when inverting
inverting is used to power create 120v when there is no genset or shore
and when the genset set is running the inverter is off and the converter charge section is being utilized
generally the 'costly' syncing inverters are used when there is large battery bank and the rv is all electric, allowing the inverter to ADD power to the circuits when too many loads are turned on for a short period of time
