Hydrogen fuel cells have been around for years, but I cant imagine making enough to run a turbine. - K_CharlesExplorerTheir web site says it won't be ready to ship until the spring of 2015 so even they say it's not real until at least then.

Roy - DrewEExplorer IIDefinitely a hoax, and a silly one at that, as it clearly violates the second law of thermodynamics. You supposedly put water in, and it sits there for a few months while you get electricity out...then you drain the water. If water were that energetic, you'd be well advised to never heat it in a teapot or carelessly slosh it around in a tank.
There are a few ways to get electricity using water, two of which are in common use. The first is to find some falling water and put a dam up to force it through a turbine, which is connected to a generator. The second is to somehow heat it in a boiler and drive a turbine with the steam. In both cases, the water is just an intermediary; the actual energy comes from gravity (and the sun's energy, via the water cycle) or from whatever you do to boil the water, which is usually burning something or maintaining nuclear fission. - ScottGNomadHoax.
Just look at the energy content of the intended fuel when arguments like this arise. In the case of water, it has zero calories so no energy at all. - KJINTFExplorerX2
Regarding a HOAX - gboppExplorerI'm guessing a hoax.
If it's real, I'm sure Al Gore invented it, along with the internet. - rexlionExplorerMy brother knows someone who is working on an engine that runs on water, but it needs a whole lot of refinement and he doesn't want to share the patent with some company that will mothball his invention, so it could be years before he has it ready for market.
- ken_whiteExplorerHoax...
:) - Golden_HVACExplorerTHe same thing was on a TV show, I don't know if it was a Disney production or another one. I do recall it being black and white movie..
However it was a water powered car.
Come to think of it - Jethro also converted the 'truck' to run on water on the TV show Beverly Hillbillies.
Water does have some potential energy. If you split the water with electricity into hydrogen and oxygen, you can run a typical generator or even seen it run a lawn mower engine. Yes this is real, and will work, however the amount of electricity it takes to convert the water into hydrogen is a LOT. IT is much easier to make hydrogen with natural gas, coal gas, or other sources of fuel, other than water.
I don't think that a electrical generator can produce enough hydrogen to run the hydrogen generator and provide additional energy, that would be really interesting to hear about.. .. But I don't think that can happen.
Good luck!
Fred.
