Just like the other AC stuff from your earlier post........the fridge will NOT work on electric when you aren't hooked up to an AC power source.
With it in 'auto' it will operate on AC (electric heat element) when connected to AC power source and then automatically swap to 'gas' operation (propane flame heating) when you disconnect from AC power source.
You can place it in 'gas' operation by changing mode from auto to gas. It will only operate on gas when in that mode...even if connected to an AC power source.
The 'check' light means it did NOT work on gas......didn't light, didn't prove main flame lit
Initial operation on gas will need several attempts because propane has not been flowing under demand (you don't have air in line---otherwise you have other problems. It's just that the propane hasn't had a demand)
To help create that demand......light off the stove top burners on high and then start fridge. The stove top burners places a demand on the propane system (regulator) and gets propane flowing).
From your pic....looks like a Dometic RM2662, RM2682 or NDR1062
