I thought I should mention that it was the fan in the back that was the cause of the warm refrigerator in case anyone reads through this later like I often do when trying to fix things. With it being 110 degrees out it took till the next morning to get the food back down to temp but it has held the temperature even with it being 110 during the day. If fact it seems to be cooling better than before now so I think the thermostat switch didn't turn on soon enough even when it was working. Right now I have the fan wired to run continuously but I have ordered a thermostat switch to replace the one that failed. The one I ordered is adjustable. I also ordered a set of wireless thermometers so I can keep an eye on the temperature of the fridge and freezer without opening them.
If your fridge doesn't seem to be keeping things cool enough when it's really hot out and it doesn't have a fan(it seems they are only usually installed when the fridge is installed in a slide and therefore does not have a roof vent) you should try installing one. If you have any experience with 12v wiring it shouldn't take much more than 20 minutes to install one yourself. They're very cheap, you can get a 12v fan and a thermostat switch from amazon for $20 to $40. As far as I can tell there isn't any reason to go with the more expensive domestic fan kit, plus the thermostat switch that comes with it is not adjustable and does not turn on soon enough.
Who knew a cheesy 12v fan could keep your fridge 30 or 40 degrees cooler?
